Amity Green

Amity Green was born in a small town in Colorado in the spring of 1971. She graduated high school in Kingman, Arizona in 1989. She started taking college courses in the fall of 1992 while working as a raft guide on the Arkansas River. Amity won her first writing award as an essayist in the fall of 1998 and continued college part time while raising her children and working as a haul truck driver in the mining industry. In the summer of 2006, she went to Austin, Texas to continue her education. She has studied Creative Writing and British Literature, including a stint in London during the summer of 2010, where she toured and studied theater and the history of English Literature. Amity returned to Colorado in late 2010, where she began her first novel, “Scales” which she outlined in Stratford Upon Avon while touring bookstores and playhouses. Since then, many of her short stories have appeared in numerous published anthologies and continue to appear in new publications. In 2014 she moved to Manitou Springs, Colorado, where she currently resides and continues to produce works of Urban Fantasy and Horror. Amity is a proud member of the Horror Writers Association and keeps steady attendance at local writers groups. A lover of animals, Amity is an advocate against animal abuse and assists with lost pets in her community.

Amy Griswold

Amy Griswold is a professional seamstress with over thirty years of experience in clothing construction and industrial sewing. She is self-taught and also worked as an apprentice in her sister’s shop where she learned techniques in alterations, custom clothing design, reupholstery, canvas work, as well as large scale production industrial sewing. Her body of work includes everything from wedding gowns and costuming to boat covers and custom reupholstery. Her motto is “show me a picture and I can make it for you.”
She has taught basic sewing and machine sewing to numerous homeschool and scouting groups and has taught reuphostery techniques at JoAnn Fabrics. Her drive for teaching is to take the fear and mystery out of sewing and show people it’s easier than they think.
Currently she is designing costumes and cosplay items for her family members and working on a new line of Neo-Victorian and Steampunk clothing and accessories for her on-line shop.

Andrew Hallam earned his PhD at the University of Denver. His dissertation was an analysis of the interplay between myth and allegory in in The Lord of the Rings. He is a scholar of sci-fi and fantasy, Star Wars, superheroes, and Beowulf.

Bryan Fields

By day, I’m a mild-mannered IT tech; by night, a writer who spends too much time in online games. I grew up reading classical authors such as Verne, Burroughs, Wells, Haggard, and Lovecraft, often in conjunction with large doses of Monty Python, Wild Wild West, and Hee-Haw. My current influences include Doctor Who, Girl Genius, and An Idiot Abroad.

I’ve enjoyed telling stories all my life, starting with short stories in grade school. In high school I discovered tabletop role-playing games, where I learned what makes a story work and how to create a living world. I began writing professionally as a member of the content design team for the MMORPG Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted, and finally realized what I wanted to be when I grew up.

I live in Denver with my wife Noelle and our daughter Alissa. The three of us can often be found prowling around Wizard City, the wilds of Azeroth, and (most recently) the Commonwealth wasteland.

Carolyn Kay

Carolyn Kay enjoys writing about an eclectic variety of things, and imagining what normally inanimate objects would do if given life. She is currently collaborating with award-winning illustrator, Chaz Kemp, on the World of Ashelon, a series of novellas set in a steampunk fantasy world. When she’s not writing, she can be seen dancing with Batavia, a tribal fusion belly dance troupe, knitting or playing with her beloved cats. Catherine Winters

Catherine Winters writes urban fantasy, women’s fiction, and literary fiction. She is an undefeated four-time Chopped champion and the principal mezzo-soprano for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Denver. When she’s not writing or singing, she enjoys teaching French to cats. Charles Orndorff

Both Charles and Tauni Orndorff are Colorado natives that started creating costumes for Halloween shortly after getting married. They have been costuming for over 20 years and have participated in several costume events to include MileHiCon, Opusfest, Starfest, World Con (Denvention), and Bubonicon in New Mexico. They have earned best in show as well as other awards in a many of these venues. Most recently awarded Best In Show Workmanship at Archon in St Louis. For them costuming is a great hobby that they both can enjoy together, additionally they love to share their knowledge and experience. Recently they have worked with a local theater group and independent film makers for their costumes and effects.

Christopher M. Salas

Born and raised in Pueblo, CO., Christopher M. Salas developed a penchant for science fiction and the paranormal from his grandmother and uncle. As a child spending time with his grandmother, Juanita, included watching Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers. His uncle Augustine would tell tales at the dinner table, recounting scenes from movies he had watched, such as Dawn of the Dead or The Exorcist. This played a key role in Christopher’s predilection for horror and science fiction. Currently residing in Colorado Springs, CO., Christopher dabbles his storytelling in various genres of fiction–Science Fiction, Horror, Fantasy and Steampunk. While working on the Abigail: Curses and Demons series, House on Teardrop Lane trilogy and other literary works, Christopher also is a script writer for Themis Comix.

olin Heintze is a Colorado native whose developing young mind was warped by the likes of Ray Harryhausen, Frank Frazetta, Neil Gaiman, and Joe Bob Briggs. After a brief post-college career in East Asia and the Middle East, he returned to Colorado to become a civil servant.

Corie Weaver

Corie Weaver is co-editor of The Young Explorer’s Adventure Guide series, a yearly anthology of science fiction for middle grade readers with a focus on diversity and representation. She and her husband also run Dreaming Robot Press, a small publishing house devoted to middle grade and young adult science fiction and fantasy.

Cynthia Settje

Cynthia Settje is the owner of Redthreaded, a small business specializing in historical corsetry and theatrical costumes in Boulder, CO. Her clients span the range from Broadway shows to individual reenactors and costume enthusiasts. She has a BFA in costume technology and has worked professionally in costume shops throughout the US, including the Santa Fe Opera and the CO Shakespeare Festival. She loves costuming for the way it uniquely combines artistry, textiles, engineering, history, storytelling and collaboration.

Hey all, my name is James Hunter and I’m a writer, among other things. So just a little about me: I’m a former Marine Corps Sergeant, combat veteran, and pirate hunter (seriously). I’m also a member of The Royal Order of the Shellback—’cause that’s a real thing. I’ve also been a missionary and international aid worker in Bangkok, Thailand. And, a space-ship captain, can’t forget that.

Jason always wanted to be a writer, he just didn’t know it. He grew up in Pasadena, Ca. in the 1980s. Watched way too many movies and too much television. He graduated from UC Santa Barbara in 1996 with degrees in History & Renaissance Studies. After wasting his youth he fell in love with his wife and moved to Colorado in 2004. He taught in Denver Public Schools for nine years before realizing teaching was not his life’s calling. He graduated from the UC Denver in 2012 with a masters in History. Singer-songwriter Marian Call is grounded in Alaska, though she spends a lot of the year on the road. She has released nine albums since 2007, and her shows have been well-received on years of tours in all fifty United States, Canada, Europe, and the UK. Call’s sound is soulful, honest, and clever, by turns humorous and heartbreaking. She sounds a little like Joni Mitchell & Ani DiFranco raising the love child of Jason Mraz & Regina Spektor. Mason J. Torall

A Colorado native, Mason J. Torall is an eclectic hobbyist. When he isn’t writing or working the odd day job, he tests board games with friends, samples Denver’s booming local fare, and bikes the metro area. A huge advocate for sustainable engineering, he spends much of his free time drafting his own engineering designs and training with technical and artistic software. His first novel, The Dark Element, is currently available on Amazon and Kindle, and he is currently working on the sequel. He lives alone in South Denver, where there is still space to think.

Melanie Unruh

Melanie is an artist and maker of decorative and functional pottery, and sartorial arts, ranging from historical to fantasy, Viking to Victorian, and hats to spats. Melanie uses juxtapositions between mechanical and organic motifs, metal against fabric, and things hidden and revealed, and Asian influences in her work.

She is one of the instigators in the Denver Victorian & Steampunk Society, and Vice-President of the Arapahoe Ceramics Guild. Melanie lives in the Denver area. Her work is shown at the Fun & Funky gallery in Bailey, CO, and she participates in two Guild shows each year.

Melissa Koons

Melissa Koons is a former English teacher who now works as a writer and editor. She still contributes to education as a tutor, and academic writing. She has one novel published, four short stories, and has ghostwritten over 60 novellas. Her novel, “Orion’s Honor” is available in print on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and her own website Write Illusion. Her short story “Reconciling the Dragon” is featured in Wordfire Press’ “Dragon Writers” anthology available on Amazon and other platforms.

Mike Cervantes

Mike Cervantes is a graduate of creative writing and communication from The University of Texas at El Paso. He is a humorist, a cartoonist, a steampunk enthusiast, a regular contributor to Denver’s many local conventions, and just a swell person besides. Noelle Alladania Meade

Noelle usually has several irons in the fire at any given time. She likes to spend her time reading, writing, and crafting, running two online shops to sell her crafts, and gaming. Life took a turn for the quirky in 2000 when she had her daughter, who turned out to have autism.
Her teens were spent on historical romances, science fiction, fantasy, and writing angsty poetry. In middle school, she had her first introduction to tabletop gaming in the form of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. As she explained to her dad, with all seriousness, it gave her the chance—as a terminally shy person—to try on different personalities and experiment with being a stronger person.
From the time her daughter was born until mid-2014, Noelle worked out of her home providing IT support for a small local software company. She’s finally working in an office as the technical resource person, and rather likes it. It’s nice to spend the day around adults who are mostly grown-ups.

Sci-fi/Fantasy author Paul Lell currently residing in Westminster, Colorado with his family; a wife, two sons, a giant dog, and two equallygiant cats, Paul writes daily, reads everything he can, and works on refining his stories, and games at all hours. Peri Charlifu

Peri Charlifu was born in 1962 in Alamosa Colorado, his Father was an art teacher and his Mother was a social worker. His Mother is now retired and living in Aurora Colorado. He grew up in Denver and Aurora Colorado, studying art from an early age and continuing to this day. He attended Metropolitan State Collage and studied Art, Psychology and combined his studies using Art as therapy. He now does Art full time.

Peri has been selling his work for 34 years, and has been selling almost exclusively in the science fiction convention market for almost 11 years. He teaches workshops and seminars in Pottery, sculpture and theory on a regular basis. He is Guild master for Art and Artisans and a founding member of the Stoneleaf potters guild.

Although an accomplished and proficient graphic artist, Peri’s first love is pottery. He is highly skilled in both Wheel thrown and hand-built work. He mixes all his own stains and glazes, and has developed an underglaze technique that he uses in 90%

Richard E. Friesen

Richard just loves telling stories, and has found novels to be an ideal length-anything under 75,000 words is too short for him. His first fantasy series, The Dreaming King Saga is almost complete. The first 4 books are available now: The Tower of Dreams, Oathbound Sisters, An Uncivil War, and On Black Mesa. The fifth and final book, The Gates of Heaven will be available by October, 2017. He also has several short stories available online (and one free one on his website). The next series will be science fiction; the Wetware Wizards, and the first book should be out by early 2018.

Sarin is a local artist living in Colorado. She’s a native Coloradoan and of course, doesn’t know how to ski. Her art style is a mix of realism and anime/manga style. Sarin loves to use most art mediums with Copic markers being one of her favorites.

Scott Beckman

Scott Beckman is a self-published author of several high epic fantasy novels that explore themes of youth, friendship, and resilience. A lifelong Coloradan, he is a frequent panelist at local cons. He is always happy to talk about the challenges of writing and self-publishing.

Before he chose to throw himself into his writing, Scott expressed his creativity through music as the guitarist and singer for local rock bands and as an actor with a particular affection for Shakespeare.

His dozens of projects have included Hero Games’ Champions product line; both West End’s and Fantasy Flight’s Star Wars RPGs; various World of Darkness books; and the Savage Worlds Epic High Fantasy setting, Shaintar.

He was the Events Coordinator for GAMA (helping run both Origins and GTS), and chronicled the entire roleplaying game hobby and industry in The Fantasy Roleplaying Gamer’s Bible, which sold over 10,000 copies. He worked for DriveThruRPG & RPGNow as the Marketing and Communications Director; during that period, he helped coordinate massive charity and relief efforts for folks like Doctors Without Borders and Feeding America, leveraging the RPG community’s generosity. He continues that tradition as a member of the Board of Directors for the RPG Creators Relief Fund.

Sean now focuses on his own gaming company, Evil Beagle Games (“Bad Dog. Good Games”), as well as serving as the Brand Manager for the Savage Rifts line. He’s working directly with Pinnacle Entertainment and Palladium Books to create an entire line of books to bring the classic Rifts setting to Savage Worlds fans, which he says is his most challenging design project ever. Additionally. he’s working on the official Savage Worlds setting book for Freedom Squadron, a love letter to G.I. Joe based on the VENOM Assault board game from Spyglass Games. He’s also well underway with Modern Gods, a setting for the upcoming Prowlers & Paragons Ultimate Edition (a superhero game system he co-designed with Len Pimentel).

Seth Phillips

Seth Phillips is Colorado’s own geek songwriter.
Every couple of weeks when he runs out of Fritos and Mountain Dew, he straps on a guitar and emerges from his basement with tales of love, loss, and science fiction.

Stace Johnson

Stace Johnson is a Colorado writer, musician, and IT guy. He has published poetry in cream city review and Tales of the Talisman, and won an Apex Book Company poetry contest in 2013. Stant Litore

An emerging voice in weird fiction, Stant Litore is the author of the series The Zombie Bible, which retells history (and the Bible) as a series of encounters with the restless dead, as well as The Ansible Stories, in which twenty-fifth century Islamic explorers become trapped in alien bodies on alien worlds. Litore has been featured in “The Year’s Best New Sci-Fi” at NPR (March 2014), as an Author Success Story on the Amazon.com homepage (November 2013), and in Weird Fiction Review and SF Signal. Litore recently released Write Characters Your Readers Won’t Forget, a handbook for young writers, and has been featured on the same topic in Jeff Vandermeer’s Wonderbook: The Illustrated Guide to Creating Imaginative Fiction. Asked what he does for a living, Litore says, “I chronicle zombie apocalypses from 3,000 years ago and I build colosseums for tyrannosaurs.”

Stant Litore lives in Colorado with his wife and two daughters, where he is working on his next novel.

Tauni Orndorff

Both Tauni and Charles Orndorff are Colorado natives that started creating costumes for Halloween shortly after getting married. They have been costuming for over 20 years and have participated in several costume events to include MileHiCon, Opusfest, Starfest, World Con (Denvention), and Bubonicon in New Mexico. They have earned best in show as well as other awards in a many of these venues. Most recently awarded Best In Show Workmanship at Archon in St Louis. For them costuming is a great hobby that they both can enjoy together, additionally they love to share their knowledge and experience. Recently they have worked with a local theater group and independent film makers for their costumes and effects.

Thomas A Fowler

Thomas A. Fowler is the author of nerdy things. He’s written a motion picture, theatrical plays, had a few short stories published, and is the author of The Writer’s Conquest: Establish a Brand. The book brings his marketing expertise as a Producer & Content Creator in advertising to the writing world.

When it comes to fiction, Fowler primarily sticks to sci-fi, but will dabble in whatever inspires him. He helps authors market & publish themselves as the Chief Marketing Officer for Spine Press & Post & is an investing partner at Modular Workshop.

Tomas O’Dreams will alternately say that he was created at the dawn of time, or that he hails from Loch Dannan in the land of the Faerie. During his youth, whenever that was, Tomas traveled the world collecting human tales and myths. He found himself in many faraway places, more exotic than the land he comes from, and studied stories to bring back to the Faerie Court. Upon his return to the faerie kingdom he gained the attention of Queen Titania. The Queen was so entertained by Tomas that she bestowed upon him the honor of being her personal Storyteller.
Tomas, now with his faerie friend and fellow storyteller Nissa LaFete, travels the human realms again. They share their knowledge of the faerie and myths of old to any who will listen – Come enjoy a unique storytelling experience for all ages.

Tonya L. De Marco

Tonya L. De Marco is a local Costume Designer, Cosplayer, published Model, and published Author.
She’s been hooked on costumes and costuming since she was a preteen. Growing up reading about the wonderful characters and places created by authors such as Ursula K. Le Guin, J.R.R.Tolkein, and Frank Herbert, Tonya turned to costuming as a way to immerse herself more deeply into those fantastic worlds.
Her love of the written word also encouraged her to pursue a writing career and she has several short stories published. Much of her work is dark in nature and Tonya is a member of the Horror Writers Association.
Tonya cosplays across multiple genres including anime, sci-fi, steampunk, Disney, comic book, and pin-up. She attends several conventions per year across the country and enjoys meeting and talking with people about cosplay and writing. Tonya has been involved in costume contests/masquerades as both a participant and a judge.

Travis Heermann

Freelance writer, novelist, award-winning screenwriter, editor, poker player, poet, biker, roustabout, Travis Heermann is a graduate of the Odyssey Writing Workshop and the author of The Ronin Trilogy, The Wild Boys, Rogues of the Black Fury, and co-author of Death Wind, plus short fiction pieces in anthologies and magazines such as Apex Magazine, Alembical, the Fiction River anthology series, Historical Lovecraft, and Cemetery Dance’s Shivers VII. As a freelance writer, he has produced a metric ton of role-playing game work both in print and online, including the Firefly Roleplaying Game, Battletech, Legend of Five Rings, d20 System, and EVE Online.
He enjoys cycling, martial arts, torturing young minds with otherworldly ideas, and zombies. He has three long-cherished dreams: a produced screenplay, a NYT best-seller, and a seat in the World Series of Poker.
In 2016, he returned to the U.S. after living in New Zealand for a year with his family.
